![]() Ranks 1 and 2 just grant carry weight, which isn’t that good, especially the low amounts the perk gives. Strong Back’s perk ranks are wildly different in terms of how good they are. On other characters, you could see somebody completely ignoring this or grabbing it very late into the game. If you’re going for this as a build then it’s alright if sub-optimal. ![]() In addition, heavy guns aren’t the kind of weapons that particularly need buffing in terms of damage – the issue is more keeping them stocked with ammunition. It’s also a fairly high Strength requirement, as 5 is above the average, but that Strength is wasted using a gun compared to melee weapons or unarmed weapons. ![]() It feels like it’s in the wrong tree – guns and Strength don’t really mix. There are a few problems with Heavy Gunner. Still, a requirement for melee characters to buff their damage up even if it isn’t the most useful perk in the world. I think melee weapons are more niche in use than guns, and melee weapons tend to have far fewer mods than guns do. Important in Survival mode too not just for the resistance bonuses but also to get the deep-pocketed mods. Slightly loses points because it is difficult to start using because of high junk costs in the early game, but I would expect most characters to get a decent amount of levels. All characters need armour – whether that’s power armour, normal combat armour, or ballistic weave, and you need Armorer for all of them. Again, the slightly higher SPECIAL requirement is essentially a moot point as melee characters will have higher than average Strength.Ī solid, all-round good perk. ![]() Melee weapons are easier to find, both in normal and legendary variants, than unarmed weapons, and the additional effects are far more useful since they are always active – not just on Power Attacks. Given that Unarmed is probably one of the least supported damage types in terms of weapons, I think that this is fair as a B tier perk – it enables a playstyle without being overpowered at any point.īig Leagues is almost like Iron Fist’s big brother. The low SPECIAL requirement is a moot point – a character that wants to use unarmed damage will have a higher than average Strength anyway. The additional effects are alright but since they require Power Attacks from rank 3 upwards, it’s not as useful as the purely passive effects on other +damage perks. Iron Fist is a fine, if unremarkable +damage perk. Role-play is their only home and even then they are fairly useless. Using them gives your character absolutely no benefit or can actively harm them, especially when SPECIAL is taken into consideration. Most only escape F-tier because they do give a definite bonus, but compared to most perks they are not worth taking.į: Useless perks. There could be some really good perks here, but their use is limited to a handful of encounters in the game.ĭ: Barely usable perks. This is the perks that are generally average but could be good.Ĭ: The flipside of B-tier perks – alright perks but their potential is limited to average. Most characters will have a decent number of A-tier perks alongside their S-tier perks, but not all of them will be essential.ī: Incredibly strong in niche situations, middling in most. S: Incredibly strong perks that will find their way onto almost every character sooner rather than later.Ī: Strong perks for certain characters, though not as useful in every situation. The tier ratings generally mean the following things: Furthermore, if the second or third ranks help a lot but are locked at higher levels, this will count against the perk. Other perks in a tree will also impact this – if the Luck 9 and Charisma 9 perks are equal in power, but the other perks in the Luck tree are also worth taking, this will be rated higher as it is a perk that is easier to incorporate into your build. For example, if the Luck 1 perk and the Charisma 10 perk are equal in power, the Luck 1 perk will be rated higher, purely because the SPECIAL investment is far lower. Some further qualifiers include the SPECIAL requirement and level requirement. If the ranks are wildly different, it may be an average or a best rank score, depending on how good the rank is. In general, it will take into account all ranks of the perk compared to other perks in both normal and survival modes. The first thing to do is to determine a rubric – how I will be rating the perks.
